While getting ready for work, i walked past the TV and Play School was on. I realised that Play School is awesome, not because it has high-tech gizmos and overlays for kids to marvel at, but because they still use "every day" stuff, like egg cartons, baskets, newspapers, permanent markers, and cardboard boxes. All the other kids shows these days seem to have all sorts of "enhancements", but Play School shows kids how to use their imaginations in play, and while using equipment the kids would be able to find around their own homes. They made trees out of rolled up newspapers and used two upside-down buckets as a mountain while a green sleeping bag represented the grassy land surrounding the mountain. The most high-tech equipment I saw was a computer -- a painted box for a monitor, and an upside-down egg carton for a keyboard. Not to forget sound, the whole show is backed by simple but great piano music. I love it. Comments are disabled on this post.
