Time for an update. On Sunday I bought a 14" Apple iBook G4, and have spent most of the last week playing around with it. Yesterday I began exploring my options for Linux installation. I'm currently running Debian unstable. The touchpad does not work and neither does the wireless card. I had expected the touchpad to work, but apparently it works fine with Fedora Rawhide (in-development release) so shouldn't be difficult to fix. I'm recompiling the kernel from a stock kernel.org kernel as I type this in the vague hope of it automatically working. If not, I'll have to dual boot Fedora and find out what the magic difference is. There is a wireless driver in development for the chip in this machine, however I'm not going to expect it to work perfectly. Unfortunately the way Apple names their hardware makes it difficult to find information on this exact model of machine. For the record, I have a 1.42 GHz processor with 512 MB RAM. The model number printed on the bottom of the machine is A1134.

At the moment I feel like I want to do some coding, but getting things working on my iBook is a higher priority. That, and sleeping.
