A dystopia ... is the antithesis of a utopian society. A dystopian society is usually characterised by an authoritarian or totalitarian form of government, or some other kind of opressive social control.

The Iranian and Chinese governments impose restrictions on what internet sites may be accessed by residents. Other governments insist on recording, tracking, and profiling their citizens. Look where we're heading.
