So I haven't been fixing bugs much recently. What I have been doing is some new stuff.

fetchexc for Debian

FetchExc allows users to retrieve email from Microsoft Exchange servers and have it delivered to an mbox store, SMTP server, or to procmail. I created a Debian package of fetchExc including writing a manpage for it in DocBook. I posted the package to Debian mentors but nobody picked it up, possibly because of its narrow use-case, or because it's written in Java. It still remains listed on mentors.debian.net and once the libcommons-httpclient-java package is back in working order (so fetchExc can be built) I'll resubmit it, probably to the Debian Java project.

OpenPGP for Jabber in Gaim

I have been working on implementing OpenPGP signatures and encryption for the Jabber protocol in Gaim. Most of the signature and crypto code for Jabber is complete, however I've discovered a larger body of work in having to maintain separation between the protocol code and the user interface. I might end up having to come up with a generic crypto interface for Gaim before it can be accepted. The code is not yet released but I will gladly share it with anyone interested, and hopefully make it available through a publically-accessible repository or patchset in the near future.

Update 2007-04-26: I gave up on this a while ago. The code I did write is available from /files/gaim-jabber-openpgp-0.0.0.patch.

ccontrol for Debian

ccontrol is Rusty Russell's tool for making use of parallel make, ccache, and distcc simpler. I noticed it wasn't available in the Debian archive so went about packaging it (Michael Neuling did a good job for me to work from). In the process I learned a bit about using Mercurial for decentralised source management and have put up my own repository of the Debianised ccontrol which I submitted to Debian mentors earlier today.
