I can't wait for LCA 2005. It'll be great. My plan at this stage is to stay with Soleil-Raid and Viddy and to attend the EducationaLinux miniconf.

It looks like work will pay my attendance fee, leaving transport and accommodation to me. IIUC I'll have to take holiday days off for it, but you can't always have a full tray of chocolates.

While reading Planet LCA 2005, I realised that there will be conference loot involved. It just gets better!

And as for the computer hardware I'll have with me, I'll probably be able to take custody of one of our new tablet PCs. That's if they don't all go out to teachers, but I don't really mind because the current TM270s^[1] are nice. The tablets come with embedded WiFi, and we have a couple of PCMCIA WiNICs for the 270s. I guess it comes down to hardware support. I don't want to spend a week trying to get basic functionality on a machine I might use for as little as a week. Of course after being attached to the love of a Linux notebook for a week, surrounded by geeks, I'll probably refuse to be parted from it upon my return to work.
